The short version
- Win the map results with a complete, accurate Google Business Profile for every location.
- Give every service & every studio its own page, written the way golfers search.
- Show prices, make booking one tap, & track every booking click so you know what’s working.
When someone searches “golf lessons near me” or “club fitting” on their phone, Google shows a map with three businesses before anything else. For coaches, fitters & simulator venues, that map pack is where most new bookings are won or lost. This is the checklist we work through for every studio.
Your Google Business Profile
1. Choose the right primary category
Your primary category carries real weight in map rankings. Choose the most specific one that fits your main service, such as Golf instructor for a coaching studio, then add secondary categories for fitting, practice or simulator hire.
2. One profile & one page per location
Two studios means two profiles, two location pages & two booking links. Each profile has to be a real, staffed location; Google is strict about that. Then fill in everything: hours, services, prices, photos of the bays & the team, & a short description that sounds like a golfer wrote it.
Your website
3. A page for every service
Private lessons, beginner & junior programs, clinics, driver, iron, wedge & putter fittings, simulator practice, sim hire & gift vouchers each deserve their own page. One page trying to rank for everything usually ranks for nothing.
4. Titles & headings that match the search
“Welcome” is the most wasted heading on golf websites. Use the words golfers type: a title like “Golf Lessons in [Suburb] | PGA Coaching | [Your Business]” & a heading that says the same thing in plain English.
5. Show prices & what’s included
Golfers compare before they book, & AI assistants can only quote prices they can find. A “from” price, the session length & what’s included (launch monitor data, video, a written report) turn browsers into bookings.
6. Make booking one tap
Put a booking button where a thumb can reach it without scrolling, & link straight to the right service in your booking platform rather than a generic calendar.
Proof & tracking
7. Track booking clicks, calls & forms
Set up GA4 events for booking clicks, phone taps & enquiries, & tag the website link on your Google profile so its traffic shows separately. We use utm_source=google, utm_medium=organic & utm_campaign=gbp.
8. Build a review routine
Ask within a day of the lesson or fitting, while the improvement is fresh. A QR code at the bay helps. Reply to every review, good or bad. Don’t offer discounts in return for reviews: it’s against Google’s policies.
9. Add schema markup
Local business schema with your address, coordinates, hours & services, plus FAQ markup on service pages, helps both Google & AI assistants read your facts correctly.
10. Plan for the seasons
Golf demand is seasonal & your content should be too. Promote gift vouchers from mid-August ahead of Father’s Day (the first Sunday in September) & from November for Christmas. Push indoor simulator sessions & winter coaching programs when the weather turns, & twilight clinics in summer. Publish & post a few weeks before demand peaks.
None of this is complicated, but it needs doing properly & keeping up. If you’d rather hand it to golfers who do it every day, see how our golf SEO works.
